Jabal Akhdar’s aflaj system is an incredible network of canals, pools and irrigation systems which runs completely on gravity. It has been developed over the eons – some parts are 5,000 years old

– to equitably divide this most precious resource. It has earned international World Heritage status and is an excellent way to learn about about architecture, agriculture and local ways of life.
